CLASS OF 2013 PROFILE
Are You a Fit for SHU?

The Princeton Review quoted several Sacred Heart University students to create our profile in their Best 371 Colleges publication.  SHU students describe a campus life in which it is “easy to become involved” and a student body that is "approachable, kind, courteous, respectful, and outgoing” in an atmosphere where “everyone seems to fit in.”

Students rate the academic experience as “great” and agree that they “really connect with [their] professors.”  A bright, enthusiastic and diverse student body, Sacred Heart University students benefit from the individual attention they receive from faculty and staff who are dedicated to their academic, professional and personal growth.

The University also received more than 400 transfer applications for the Fall 2009 semester, and enrolled over 150 new students who began their collegiate experiences at schools across the country and have now chosen Sacred Heart University as the ideal institution from which to earn their bachelors' degrees.

How Did the Class of 2013 Arrive at SHU?

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions carefully reviews every application in a holistic manner, considering each component of an applicant’s profile in order to determine what makes that candidate distinctive.  Academic history is a very important aspect of an applicant’s candidacy, complemented by leadership and meaningful involvement within a student’s high school and surrounding community.  We are interested in learning about candidates’ extracurricular participation, as SHU students lead active and productive lives both in and out of the classroom.  We are particularly impressed by students who use their talents and intellects to positively impact society and will embrace the University’s mission of making “contributions to the human community” both during their years at SHU and after graduation.
