Michael Landis, PhD.  Visiting Instructor in Nineteenth-Century American History; received his BA and MA from Boston University (2001/2002); and PhD degree from George Washington University (2011).

Teaching Areas: Nineteenth-century America; Civil War and Reconstruction; Antebellum America; The Early Republic; The Gilded Age; The American South; The American Presidency; Political Parties; Congessional HIstory; Nineteenth Century United States Foreign Policy; Twentieth Century America; Modern German History.

Research Interests: Dissertation "The Northern Democracy: Slavery, the Democratic Party, and the Destruction of the Union."
