A placement test is required for the following courses.
EF 151-152 English as a Second Language V, VI (English for Bilingual Students) (3 CR)
The high-intermediate and advanced levels in English as a Second Language, these courses are designed to strengthen the student's academic reading and writing skills. Focus is on writing the well-developed essay with stress placed on the appropriate elements of grammar, syntax, vocabulary development and strategies for reading college-
level texts. Oral and aural skills are emphasized. Work online and in the multimedia language lab is required. (EF courses are considered “foreign language” credit and meet certain degree and core curriculum requirements.)
EN 110 Introduction to Rhetoric (3 CR)
This college writing course introduces the student to rhetorical strategies and techniques for clear and effective writing. Stresses the recursive nature of writing, encouraging students to think of writing as a means to generate thinking and enhance learning as well as to communicate.
The following academic course is offered as a “sheltered” course for bilingual students. It meets certain degree and core curriculum requirements.
CA 101 Effective Communication (3 CR)
This public speaking course explores and analyzes the communication process through instruction and practice in individual and group presentations.
