In accordance with
Sacred Heart's Mission Statement, the Academic Advisement Office is "committed to combining education for life with preparation for professional excellence." Our office, in collaboration with our support services and departmental faculty advisors, assists and guides our students in developing and implementing educational plans by assessing their interests and academic abilities leading to setting career goals and intellectual development.
- Students' academic performance is closely monitored to ensure their satisfaction and to encourage them to strive towards academic success.
The Director of Academic Advisement is in charge of different populations:
- transfer students
- undecided students
- pre-Nursing students
Our Annual Majors Fair, coordinated by the Director for the entire student population, gives students the opportunity to meet faculty members and gather valuable information prior to making a decision on their major. Assisting undeclared students in selecting a major, gives students a better commitment to their academic goals.
The Early Warning and Mid-term Warning Systems help us to monitor students' academic performance. Collaboration between the support services offices and departmental advisor training helps promote retention and early intervention by our advisement System.
Academic excellence is our priority, and personal attention contributes to students' educational and career achievements. The Director of Academic Advisement is available to assist students with their academic and career advisement as well as ensure that students have a positive experience at Sacred Heart University.
