POST MASTER'S CERTIFICATE FOR THE FNP

Post Masters Certificate for the FNP Program

Why SHU?
The Post Master's Certificate Program at Sacred Heart University consists of 33 credit hours of study. Students in the Post Master's Certificate Program will take 33 credits of course work designed for the Nurse Practitioner. Prior Masters level courses in required content areas may be evaluated for transfer credit.

What the degree prepares you for:
It is designed to prepare the student who currently possesses a Master's Degree in Nursing to become eligible for certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. 

Course work:
Students in the Post Master's Certificate Program will take 33 credits of course work designed for the Nurse Practitioner. These courses provide the concentration in family and primary care.

Admission Criteria

  • MS in Nursing
  • Interview with the Program Coordinator
  • Statement of professional goals
  • Connecticut RN license
  • Basic Health Assessment course (30 hours or greater)

The applicant for admission must submit a completed application, résumé, two letters of recommendation, and send official copies of transcripts of all prior nursing and academic work.
