Not many people can say that they know their family's history all the way back to when their grandparents were born. On top of that, there are few who have actually seen photographs older than themselves, their parents, and almost as old as their grandparents. The 1930s and 1940s were turbulent times for many. Concentration and displaced persons camps were over-packed with innocent people unsure of whether or not they would be alive the next day. However, all had the same dream - to come to America one day. This documentary traces back to my own grandparent's childhood. Their interview goes from the story of their barely existent childhood in numerous transit camps to their long journey over to America. This film will not only include their tale, but also pictures that date back as far as the 1930s, a 8mm film of their wedding that I have been able to capture and restore, and footage of Ellis Island, where so many, just like them, have stepped foot for a better tomorrow.
