Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Business Administration
Why SHU?
The MSN/MBA Program is designed for registered nurses who want to further their education and attain a dual Master’s degree. In conjunction with the MBA Program, students may elect to complete the dual degree. Based on previous undergraduate course work the program requires a minimum of 61 credits, 36 of which must be in the MBA concentration.
What the degree prepares you for:
This program is designed to prepare RNs with a Baccalaureate degree for positions of administrative responsibility in health care organizations. It is an ideal degree for individuals seeking executive level positions that require both professional and business expertise.
Admission Criteria
- BSN Degree from an accredited college or BA/BS in related field, with a GPA of 3.0
- Provisional admission status is possible for individuals with a GPA of less than 3.0
- Statement of professional goals
- Interview with graduate nursing faculty
- Undergraduate research course recommended
- Statistics course required
- Current Connecticut RN license (or for online students, RN licensure in state of professional practice)
The applicant for admission must submit a completed application, résumé, two letters of recommendation, and send official copies of transcripts of all prior nursing and academic work.
Admission to the College of Business is determined by a formula that considers;
- Undergraduate GPA
- Work experience
- GMAT scores
To determine eligibility for admission the applicant must meet with a counselor in Graduate Admissions or the MBA office.
