Why SHU?
RN to BSN Nursing Program at Sacred Heart University is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The upper division curriculum has been specially designed for RN students returning to finish their baccalaureate education. Classroom and clinical experiences are individualized to meet the RN student's adult-learning needs. All nursing courses in this program at Sacred Heart University are offered via Web-based formats. The on-line format gives students the ability to learn at a time and place amenable to their needs.
What the degree prepares you for:
This degree prepares the graduate for entry into graduate education, for clinical positions that require the baccalaureate degree, and for leadership in the Nursing profession.
Admission Criteria
- AD or Diploma in Nursing
- GPA of 2.5 or above
- Interview with nursing faculty advisor
- RN license (in state of practice)
The applicant for admission must submit a completed application, resume, and two letters of
recommendation, and send official copies of transcripts of all prior nursing and academic work to the nursing department.
Clinical Sites / Affiliations: Numerous clinical sites are used by students. Clinical sites must meet specific criteria such as licensure and accreditation by JCAHO, CHAP, and Medicare/Medicaid. Examples of these sites include: Yale New Haven Hospital, Bacchus Memorial Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Visiting Nurse Services of CT, INC., Stratford VNA, CT VNA, Norwalk Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital, Local health departments, Bridgeport/Stratford/Ansonia/Hartford school systems, Schick Wilkinson-Sword-Energizer, Clairol PG, Optimus Health Care, and other primary care centers.
