ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible for participation in the Program, incoming freshman students must:

  • Meet Sacred Heart University’s entrance requirements.
  • Must live in Fairfield County.
  • Must have attended a secondary school in Fairfield County.
  • Demonstrate a family income equal to or less than $50,000 in the most recent tax year and whose financial assets are typical of families with this annual income level.
  • Must be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant.

Important Notes on Eligibility Requirements:

  1. The Fairfield County high school graduate must apply to Sacred Heart University for undergraduate admission by the regular established deadlines with the intent to enroll at Sacred Heart in the first semester following their high school graduation. Students can choose to defer their enrollment for one year if they choose to partake in a “gap year” immediately following their high school graduation.
  2. Family income includes income from the student and their parents/family members.  In the case of divorce or separated families, the non-custodial parental income will also be included in the evaluation of family income.  In these cases the College Board Non Custodial Parent (NCP) supplement will be required through the Profile application process.
  3. Family assets will be reviewed via use of the College Board Profile Application.
  4. Tax Returns will be required for income verification.
  5. If family income is a result of a business or farm, a Business and Farm supplement will be required.  The form will be made available to the student from the College Board through the Profile application process.
  6. The renewal of awards is dependent on continuous full-time enrollment, satisfactory academic progress as defined by the University, and annual family income levels at or below $50,000.
