Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, proposes to greatly expand the availability of financial assistance for first-year full-time undergraduate students from Fairfield County beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year.
In the past academic year, the average unmet cost of tuition per first-year full-time undergraduate students from Fairfield County, with a family income under $50,000, was approximately $8,900 after all sources of federal, state and university scholarship and grant assistance were taken into consideration. It is the intent to close this gap without the requirement of admitted students to borrow or participate in the campus work-study program. Students will then have a choice to reside on campus and utilize other forms of outside scholarships, loans and work-study to pay for room, board and books.
