SUMMARY, DEFINITION, AND RESPONSE

  1. Have students bring in a topical article from the New York Times (a recent example: “When Women Find Love is Fatal,” by Erica Goode). Students write a response to the article, either in class or at home. This activity generates interesting class discussion.

  2. Ask students to write a definition of a relevant concept (such as “feminism") in class. For homework, the students must interview two men or women on the topic. This activity provides students with an easy way to establish a role as researchers.
