Discovery Awards & Scholarship Dinner
Each year, Sacred Heart University proudly hosts a very special event designed to honor distinguished members of the community while raising critically needed scholarship funds for the University’s most deserving students. Sacred Heart University marks its 45th anniversary in 2008.
The Discovery Awards and Scholarship Dinner, now in its 19th year, allows us to honor some of the region’s most gifted and giving people. This black-tie gala is our premier fundraising event, and since its inception, it has contributed millions of dollars to our Scholarship Fund. This year’s Discovery Dinner will take place on Wednesday, April 16, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.

This year, we will present the 2008 Discovery Award to Deborah Norville, the popular host of Inside Edition and a best-selling author, and the Alumni Award of Excellence to our own, John Ratzenberger, the Bridgeport native who spent more than a decade on television’s Cheers. We will also have the privilege of congratulating Dr. Anthony J. Cernera, who is celebrating a remarkable 20 years as president of Sacred Heart University. It promises to be a terrific evening in the company of good friends – all to benefit deserving young scholars at Sacred Heart University.

Nearly 90 percent of our full-time undergraduates receive some form of financial aid, representing $23 million in University support just last year. Countless young men and women have been able to pursue their dreams of higher education thanks to support from friends like you.
