SACRED MUSIC “CAPPELLA CLAUSURA” CONCERT
WHAT: WHO: | Cappella Clausura Concert This event is open to the public. Tickets are free. Call the Edgerton Center Box office at 371-7908 to reserve your seat. Cappella Clausura is a women’s ensemble of 14 singers and three instrumentalists, which specializes in music written through the centuries by women in “clausurae,” or cloisters. The women’s ensemble represents music, which dates from the early Middle Ages to the Baroque period of the 18th century. Past concerts have featured music from the convents and salons of Baroque Italy and France and a chant from the eleventh century by Hildegard von Bingen. The ensemble’s goal is to integrate their music into the standard repertoire of classical music, while raising money for organizations that help women. |
