| For the fifth year, in June 2004, the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding (CCJU) hosted its annual Institute for Seminarians and Rabbinical Students. Thirty-two future religious leaders from seminaries across the United States convened at Sacred Heart University for the three-day event of joint study and the sharing of religious traditions. |

| The Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding hosted its sixth annual Nostra Aetate Awards Ceremony at the Sutton Place Synagogue on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 and honored Reverend Remi E. Hoeckman, O.P, former Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews in Vatican City, and Rabbi A. James Rudin, Senior Interreligious Advisor of the American Jewish Committee in New York City with the Nostra Aetate Award. T he Center also presented TV show hosts from “The God Squad,” Rabbi Marc A. Gellman and Monsignor Thomas J. Hartman, both of Uniondale, New York, with a Media Award for their significant contribution to furthering interreligious dialogue. |

| What Do We Want the Other to Teach About Us - Jerusalem Conference |
| On February 8-10, 2000, the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding, in cooperation with the Elijah School for the Study of Wisdom in World Religions, Jerusalem, sponsored a conference at the Ratisbonne Papal Institute, Jerusalem, entitled, "What Do We Want the Other to Teach About Our Theological Traditions?" More than 20 scholars from the Middle East, Europe, Canada and the United States were invited to participate at the proceedings with the additional attendance of graduate students from the Ratisbonne Papal Institute and Tantur Ecumenical Institute, Jerusalem, who joined as observers for each of the sessions spread over three days. |

| Most Reverend Theodore E. McCarrick, the Archbishop of Newark and newly appointed Archbishop of Washington, D.C., and Rabbi David H. Lincoln, the spiritual leader of the host Park Avenue Synagogue were honored with the Center's Nostra Aetate Award on December 5, 2000. The featured speaker was Connecticut's Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, whose quest to be the nation's next Vice President-and first Jew to hold that office-was still in question on the night of the ceremony. |

The event took place on the University's Fairfield campus and gathered 20 future religious leaders from the Jewish and Christian faiths to study and discuss the advances made in Christian-Jewish dialogue over the last 35 years, and to explore possibilities for future progress. |

| On October 20, 1998, the Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding honored His Eminence Jean-Marie Cardinal Lustiger and Chief Rabbi Rene-Samuel Sirat with the prestigious Nostra Aetate Award, named after the Second Vatican Council's groundbreaking document on the Catholic Church and its relations with Jews and other non-Christians. Presenting the awards were Dr. Samuel Pisar and His Eminence John Cardinal O'Connor. The event took place at the Sutton Place Synagogue, New York City, and was emceed by Mitchell Krauss, former CBS news correspondent. As part of the CCJU Awards Ceremony, Cardinal Lustiger and Chief Rabbi Sirat each delivered a paper. |

| The Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding co-sponsored a series of conferences on the Catholic Catechism (promulgated by Pope John Paul II in October 1992--the first revision since the Council of Trent more than 400 years ago) in New York, Dallas, San Antonio, Scottsdale, Washington, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Connecticut. The conferences were designed to learn about the extraordinary Catechism of the Catholic Church and its impact on Catholic-Jewish relations. |

Allen was sponsored by the CCJU. Allen, who died on June 16, 1996, at age 83, was known as "The Voice of the Yankees" and provided radio and television play-by-play announcing for over 25 years (1939-1964). |
