History
The Sacred Heart Club hockey Team is a new addition to the club sports offered at Sacred Heart. Hockey was formally a J.V sport which competed against area junior teams who wished to get another look at the Sacred Heart campus and varsity team. The J.V team did not belong to any league and was one of the last remaining schools to have a J.V Hockey program.
At the start of the 07-08 season the team was informed that the J.V team had been disbanded and that they would now be a club sport, competing as a Division II independent in the ACHA league. Junior goalie Brian Blasko and team captains Ryan Simpson and Oliver Olinyk came to the forefront to try and get as many games as possible with such short notice. The 07-08 season was a success in that it served as a stepping stone of where the club wishes to be in the future. The upcoming season will consist of a full schedule of 22 games and 2-3 on-ice practices a week.
The Team
The team is comprised of many talent levels ranging in experience from High School/ Prep School through Junior level of play. All students are welcome to come out for the team despite experience. All members can practice with the team but only 21 (game roster limit) will be allowed to play in each game.
