SHU VICE-CHAIRMAN JAMES MORLEY, JR., WITH STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF AT WOOLSEY HALL

Over 60 SHU Students, Faculty and Staff attended the February 14, 2008 Valentine's Day concert of the New Haven Symphony in Woolsey Hall on the Yale campus in New Haven.  The 8:00 PM concert featured operatic and orchestral music by Borodin, Puccini, Donizetti, and Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto, music works all appropriate for the special day celebrating love.  Mr. James Morley, Jr.,  is Vice-chairman of the SHU Board of Trustees, and is also a Board member and supporter of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. "It's wonderful to have such a great response," said Mr. Morley, who provides free tickets to the symphony's concerts for his friends at Sacred Heart University. SHU community members were invited to attend events throughout the concert season, and have so far attended concerts on Sept. 20, Oct. 18, Nov. 15, 2007, and Jan 17th, 2008. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our students, faculty and staff," said Dr. John Michniewicz, Director of the Academic Music Program in the College of Arts & Sciences.  "The New Haven Symphony is truly a world-class orchestra, with a 114 year history, an outstanding conductor and fantastic instrumental players and soloists.  We're so lucky that Mr. Morley has provided tickets for us, and I'm pleased that so many from SHU have attend these performances."  Please check this website, or contact Dr. J. Michniewicz michniewiczj@sacredheart.edu for future NHSO concerts and ticket availabilty.
