Allegra De Vita, a freshman at Sacred Heart University, will be performing as part of the Lenten Noonday Concert Series at United Congregational Church in Bridgeport. The concert takes place on Wednesday, March 12th at 12:05 P.M. Admission is free, and the concert is followed by a lunch at minimal cost. The church is located at 877 Park Ave., at the corner of Park and State Streets. Her program includes arias and art songs from the 19th and 20th centuries. Eric Trudel, will accompany on the church's 1918 Steinway grand piano.
Allegra, from Trumbull, CT., is a singer in the 4 Heart Harmony Chamber choir, and the Liturgical Choir at SHU, and is a Biology Major with a Music Minor.

Earlier this year, Allegra was a finalist for the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, a prestigious organization providing scholarships, workshops, and awards to young artists. She was one of 150 finalists chosen from a pool of roughly 8,000 young artists who applied in 10 different arts categories. She was one of only five classical singers to receive this honor.
In addition, Ms. De Vita has been selected to participate in the Dolora Zajick Institute for Young Voices’ 2008 workshop, which will be held July 14- 30 in Orem, Utah. Dolora Zajick is a Metropolitan Opera singer who has started the workshop to mentor young singers of exceptional talent.
