The Teacher Quality Partnership consists of two parts.
- The first is a nine-day summer institute in July 2007 for 40 participants on teaching the earth science, physics, and biology of matter and energy in ecosystems. The institute covers content knowledge, instructional technique, and field experience. Interactive presentations are led by teams of professors from Sacred Heart University and science coordinators from participating districts.
- The second is a series of three follow-up sessions, held during the school year, at which teachers present lesson plans developed using the institute’s principles and discuss pedagogical questions using their classroom experience with the material. Key elements of the new lesson plans are recorded for inclusion in a video bank accessible via the internet.
