Professor Kagan is the author of many books on both ancient and modern history, including his four-volume History of the Peloponnesian War, which is the leading scholarly work on the subject. Kagan is a recipient of a National Humanities Medal for 2002. He has served on the Yale University faculty since 1969, and was Dean of Yale College from 1989 to 1992.
