WHAT ARE INTRAMURALS?

The Intramural office provides recreational activities for all SHU students, staff and faculty. Teams and single participants can sign up for leagues and special events. Leagues run from 3-6 weeks, and 1 or 2 day events are scheduled throughout the year.

Registration & Rosters
All registration is done online. The link "Sign Up Now" can be seen on the list to the left. The roster allows for 12 members; however, more may be added by contacting the Intramural Office. The captain may add or delete members throughout the regular season. In order to compete in the championships, a member must have played in at least one regular season game. No new additions are allowed after playoffs begin.

Costs
The majority of the leagues require a forfeit fee, which is returned to the captain if the team does not forfeit any games during the season. Any applicable fees for an event will be collected at the captains meeting. No collection = no play.

Captains Meetings
The captains meetings are where you will get all the information about the league/event. Rules are discussed. If the team captain cannot make the meeting, then a team representative must be present. A team with no one present at the meeting will not be scheduled any games.

Team Captains
The team captain is responsible for his/her team's behavior, for collecting and delivering the team fee to the Intramural office, and making sure the team is ready and on time for all games. He/she is responsible for making sure all team members are eligible and have signed the team waiver prior to playing. The captain is the only team member allowed to contest officials' calls.

Free Agent
If you do not have a team to join but are interested in participating, you can enter as a free agent and the Intramural office will assist you in finding a team to join. Free agents are highly encouraged to attend the captains' meetings.

NCAA Athletes
SHU Division I athletes are welcome, but can not participate in the same or similar sport as their NCAA sport. Examples: football and flag football, ice or field hockey and floor hockey. Athletes no longer participating in SHU athletics, must wait until the next academic year before playing their like sport.

Club Athletes
SHU club athletes are also welcome; however, in regards to like sports, teams are limited to two club members for sports with five or more players on the field/court and are limited to one club member for sports with four or less on the field/court. Example: floor hockey is 4v4, so only 1 hockey club member may be on a team's roster. Softball is 9v9, so 2 baseball or softball club members may be on a team's roster.

ID Policy
All participants must have their SHU ID's with them at all games. You must swipe your ID card any time you enter the Pitt Center.

Waiver Signatures
All participants must sign a waiver prior to their first game.
