RESIDENT ASSISTANT APPLICATION PROCESS
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Resident Assistant at Sacred Heart University!  Your interest in this position probably means that you are interested in making SHU a great place to live and learn, that you are a dedicated student leader, that you are creative, energetic, and enthusiastic, among other things.  We are very excited for you to get to know more about us, and for us to get to know more about you through our selection process!

The Application Process
Below are the essential documents you will need in order to apply for the Resident Assistant Position.  Please read the RA Job Description so that you are familiar with what the position entails.  Then, read the Application Cover Letter so that you know what is required of you throughout the selection process.  Next, save a copy of the Application & References, and the RA Application Task Sheet to your computer so that you can fill out the forms before submitting them.  Print off the completed documents and deliver them to the Office of Residential Life in Suite 131 of Roncalli Hall.  The application process may look daunting at first, but it is intended to give you a complete understanding of the RA job before jumping in.  Best of luck throughout the process!

Important Dates to Remember

Friday, February 29th-RA Applications due by 5:00pm to the Office of Residential Life in Roncalli Hall.

Week of March 10th through March 14th-Individual interviews will be conducted in the Office of Residential Life daily.  You will sign up for a half hour time slot when you drop off your application.  Please have your schedule with you when you come.

Saturday, March 15th-All applicants must attend the Group Process sessions to be held from 10:00AM to approximately 3:00PM on Saturday, March 15th in the University Commons.  Failure to attend the group process day will result in the candidate’s elimination from the selection process. 

March  28th-Notification of Selection Committee’s decisions will be sent via mail and/or e-mail to all candidates.

RA Information Session Dates
RA candidates must attend at least one Resident Assistant Information Session in order to be considered for a position.  Formal Resident Assistant Information Session dates have passed.  However, if you are still interested in applying, please speak with the Residence Hall Director from your building/area, or stop by the Office of Residential Life in Roncalli Hall to receive information about the selection process and the RA position from one of our staff members.

Returning RA Application Process
Returning RAs must complete the appropriate application from the link below.  Applications for Returning RAs and Senior RAs are due February 20th, 2008 and should be turned in at the Office of Residential Life in Roncalli Hall.  Interviews for Returning and Senior RAs will be the week of February 25th through 29th.  Please be prepared to sign up for an interview time when you drop off your application.
