GARY VALENTINE

Gary Valentine, M.A., CSCS*D, 49 years old, is originally from Stamford, Connecticut. He has a Masters in Exercise Physiology and Undergraduate in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut, and is ACSM Certified Exercises Test Technologist. Gary is Cardiac Rehabilitation Manager at Griffin Hospital in Derby Connecticut, where he has provided internship opportunities to SHU students since 1998. He began his career as Clinical Exercise Physiologist in Cardiac Rehabilitation at Stamford Hospital from 1985-1995, before accepting the manager’s position at Griffin.

Gary is a competitive Olympic Style weightlifter, and is the 2006 Heavyweight Connecticut and New England Champion, as well as the 2006 Pan American Masters Weightlifting Champion. In 2003 he won the World Masters Weightlifting title in the 45-49 age division. He is United States Weightlifting Club Coach Certified and Head Coach of Team Connecticut Olympic Weightlifting Club in Wilton.

A performing musician for over 20 years, Gary performed at Spring Break in Nassau Bahamas from 1982-1991, and at Colleges throughout the country. Since 1993 he has lived in Wilton Connecticut with his wife Deborah, and daughter Sarah born in 1996.
