SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY APPOINTS MICHAEL TRIMBLE VICE PRESIDENT FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SECURITY

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Michael Trimble has been promoted to Vice President for Information Technology and Security at Sacred Heart University, effective July 1, 2007. It is a new position at the University, where he has been Assistant Vice President for Technology since 1999. Heading the University’s IT and public safety functions, Trimble will report to SHU Senior VP for Finance & Administration Michael J. Kinney.

Mr. Trimble came to SHU from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. A career officer of the U.S. Army, where he earned the rank of lieutenant colonel, he most recently served as West Point’s deputy chief information officer. A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he received a bachelor’s degree in government, Trimble earned his master’s in management information systems at George Washington University. In addition to numerous stateside appointments, he was stationed in Germany and Turkey.

During his tenure, Sacred Heart has become widely known for its cutting edge computer technology. SHU issues a laptop to every incoming full-time freshman, replacing it after two years. The entire campus is fully equipped for wireless transmission, meaning that students may connect with their professors, classmates and families without “plugging in,” from anywhere on campus. The University has been ranked by Intel as the # 11 “unwired” college in the country.

Mr. Trimble resides in Derby, Connecticut.
