GRADUATE ASSISTANT POSITIONS

The Graduate Assistant (GA) works along with the Council of Graduate Students and supports them with their administrative duties and day-to-day functions as an organization. The GA attends monthly meetings with the Council, plans and organizes events throughout the year, helps make decisions regarding funding for other graduate programs to benefit graduate students, publish a quarterly newsletter, and tracks the COGS budget.

Specific details of the job include:

  • Emailing meeting minutes and other reminders to council members
  • Reserving facilities on campus for various events (meetings, pub nights) through Student Union
  • Ordering catering services through Chartwells for various on campus events
  • Tracking the COGS budget and processing appropriate paperwork
  • Attending various Council events throughout the year
  • Organizing and planning an end of year dinner dance
  • Publishing a newsletter two times each semester
  • Assisting the Council in any other tasks as needed
Employment Period: August 15, 2011 - May 15 ,2012*
*Renewal for the Spring 2012 semester based on satisfactory performance during the Fall 2011 semester

Compensation package:

  • Stipend: $3,000 (approx 6hrs/week X 15 wks for 2 semesters)
  • Health Insurance: $353
  • Meal Allotment: $250/semester
  • Other compensation/benefits for position: N/A
  • Total Compensation for Position: $3,603 for academic year
