Major In Success is a structured series of meetings with a career counselor to help full-time first and second year students focus on talents, learn more about major/career relationships, and begin to identify the career options that fit best.

SELF ASSESSMENTS
It is our philosophy that assessment tests are only one tool for helping students identify majors and careers and should be used with additional assessment activities and discussion. We require students who take an assessment through the Career Development and Placement Center to work with a career counselor before and after the assessment. These meetings keep misinterpretations to a minimum, assist the student in getting the most from the assessment and provide direction for making decisions.
The Career Development and Placement Center has an online self-directed career planning assessment called FOCUS, that students can take on their own and save their results. Also available are standardized career counselor directed assessment instruments to help students identify career-related interests, abilities, values and other personality characteristics that might affect career decision-making. Available assessment instruments include the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator. All assessments are interpreted by a trained professional.
CAREER PEERS
A Major in Success mentor is a junior or senior who has a sincere desire to assist other students (freshmen or sophomores) with the decision about declaring a major and other career related advice.
