JESSICA C. PFEIL, PH.D.
Jessica C. Pfeil, Ph.D.

Education: Ph.D., M.Phil, Columbia University; MA, New York University; BS, Virginia Tech University

Research Interests: mathematics education, instrument design and validation

Courses Usually taught: Calculus I, Business Statistics, Mathematics for Decision Making, Modern College Mathematics

Biography: Dr. Pfeil joined the Sacred Heart University faculty in January 2007. Prior to coming to Sacred Heart, she worked on her graduate studies as a part-time student while teaching high school mathematics full-time. Her previous teaching experience includes half a year at a public secondary school in London, England and seven years at West Orange High School in West Orange, New Jersey.

She is interested in helping students become successful learners of mathematics and hopes her students gain problem solving skills they will use long after they graduate from Sacred Heart. She hopes to eventually develop and teach courses specifically for future teachers of mathematics.
