A New Learning Environment for Tomorrow’s University
Since its founding in 1963, Sacred Heart University has grown from humble beginnings as a commuter college to a premier residential Catholic liberal arts university. This evolution is the result of individual commitment on the part of every member of our community, and this commitment is one of the hallmarks of a Sacred Heart education.
The new Humanities Center represents a commitment as well, one we’re preparing to make to future generations of Sacred Heart students. As teaching and learning styles have changed and technology has evolved, the physical needs of our campus have changed as well. The Humanities Center is designed to reflect this shift and provide more open, flexible and effective teaching and learning spaces. Constructed of brick with large expanses of glass, the Center will be an inviting, light-filled venue for learning.
At its proposed location on Park Avenue, the Humanities Center will define the northeast corner of the Quad, resting alongside the primary pedestrian street through the heart of the campus. It will be linked via a bridge and first-floor entrances to the new Library, creating a complex that will become a center for intellectual and social activity.
Construction of the Humanities Center is scheduled to begin shortly, thanks to the generous support of alumni, parents and other friends of the University. We hope you will consider lending your support as well.
