Spring 2008 Intramural Wrap Up
Softball League
Seventeen teams signed up for the softball league which ran the two weeks prior to final exams. Many requests were received for games to be scheduled through finals week. For a first attempt at a softball league, there was great interest - proof for an extension of the league next year.
Soccer League
Fourteen teams participated in the soccer league, which ran over a four week period in April and May. The Internationals was the team to beat, going 4-0-1; Team Negrodrama being the only team to contest by tying the eventual champions during the regular season, 3-3. Three teams made it to the playoffs, #1 Internationals (4-0-1), #2 Do Work (3-1) and #3 Rub It Outs (3-1-1).
Floor Hockey
The Floor Hockey season got bumped to the latter half of the spring semester this year, but that didn't deter fourteen teams from playing "in the rink." Four teams were headed to the playoffs, but four of the top five teams were tied with records of 3-1; a point spread was used to seed the teams. Team Cole Conrad just missed the playoffs by 10 goals whereas Rink Rats were seeded second with 44 goals, USSR was seeded third with 33 and Shockers were seeded fourth with 29 goals. Bang Brothers finished first in the league with a perfect mark, 4-0; however, they were ousted by #4 Shockers, 7-11, in the first round. #2 Rink Rats defeated #3 USSR to move to the championship game against the Shockers. Shockers came out on top, scoring the winning goal with under two minutes remaining in regulation, 7-6. USSR and Bang Brothers played a consolation game with USSR winning, 14-12.
Women's Soccer League
This spring was the first year a women's soccer league was run, bringing in five teams. That Really Really Good Team racked up 15 goals in their last game against 509, 15-4 being the final score. SHU Suitehearts came close to a win, tying That Really Really Good Team, 3-3, in the early part of the season.
