Tenor W. David-Marc Finley is a lyric tenor known for his excellent singing, outstanding musicianship, dramatic style, and outgoing and friendly personality. His vocal technique exibits a mastery at the skill of ornamentation, a coloratura vocal range, and an impressive broad dynamic contrast, especially the mezza di voce. Comfortable in all styles, Baroque music performance is his specialty, with an emphasis on the music of J.S. Bach.
Professor Finley has extensive solo experience, having sung with numerous professional ensembles and companies. He regularly sings with the Pro Arte Singers, the United Chorale, the St. Gregory Society, The Schola Cantorum at the Church of St. Mary in New Haven, among many others. He served as the Director of the Yale University Russian chorus, and performed both as a conductor and soloist throughout Russia and the countries that used to make up the former Soviet Union as well throughout the United States and Canada.
David Finley holds degrees in vocal perfomance from Yale University and the University of Montevallo, Alabama. He has extensive teaching experience and has a proven ability to teach voice at all levels, ages and styles. He is a warm and caring teacher, and enjoys helping his students develop their individual musical talents and abilities to the highest levels possible.
Professor Finley also teaches the music history classes "Bach to Beethoven" and "Brahms to Bernstein" among others.
