MARGO R. GROSS, ED.D, OTR/L, MFT, LMT
Margo Gross received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in Boston, Mass., and began a varied career trajectory which includes obtaining an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Bridgeport, CT. and an Educational Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, North Miami Beach, Florida. Her applied research project, completed in 2004 for the dissertation, was entitled, “Problem-based Learning: Effects on Critical Thinking Skills in Occupational Therapy Students.”
Her private practice is philosphically a holistic/humanistic/client-centered approach to foster the clients’ independent, healthy lifestyles. As a graduate of the CT Center for Massage Therapy (www.ccmt.com), she utilizes Swedish massage, Reiki healing, and cranial sacral techniques for clients in her private practice. Margo also teaches part-time at their Westport branch-courses such as Professional Foundations, Energetic Foundations, Business Practices, and Student Clinic.
While co- authoring “The Healing Workbook for Substance Dependency” with a former student, Robert DeMatteo, OTR/L, Margo realized her love of collaboration and is committed to seeing students grow and develop into mature practitioners. Stretching her own ways of knowing and teaching through inspirational student and collegial interactions has been her passion in many venues; including mentorship, consultancy to organizations, and innovative practice arenas involving the body/mind/spirit dimensions. Dr. Margo Gross presented original research at the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professionals Conference in San Diego in October, 2007; a poster entitled, "Comparing Practice Domains Between Related Allied Healthcare Professionals". In November 2007, at the Vermont OT COnference, she presented on the topic of "Integrating Complementary and Alternative Methods into OT Practice" with adjunct professor, Ralph Soldano, OTR/L. Currently her research topics and service learning projects include exercise for adults with developmental disabilities at the Senior Options Program at The Kennedy Center and "Stitchin' Time" - a therapeutic sewing group for psychiatric clients in collaboration with the Family and Children's Services of Bridgeport.
