Balbir B. Bhasin, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of International Business
CEO, entrepreneur and now a scholar, Dr. Bhasin turned to teaching after being in the business world for 19 years and having served in the government sector for 10 years. Dr. Bhasin is a true internationalist.  He is multi-lingual and multi-cultured.  He holds a Ph.D. in Management and International Business from the University of South Australia and a Masters in International Management degree from Thunderbird: The American Graduate School of International Management.  He has lived and worked in 12 countries. His business involvements have included banking, real estate development, manufacturing, information dissemination, bio technology, hotels and resorts, and investing.

Thomas D. Corrigan, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Economics and Finance
Dr. Corrigan has served as MBA Director, faculty chair, and Director of Research for the John F. Welch College of Business. He spent 17 years in the corporate environment, including the position of Chief Economist for International Paper Company. He was employed as a senior economist for Merrill Lynch and as Director of Domestic Economics for Marine Midland Bank. Currently, Dr. Corrigan is a consultant and strategist for Gallatin & Co., an investment management firm.

Andra Gumbus, Ed.D.
Assistant Professor of Management
Program Coordinator
Dr. Gumbus brings a 27 year corporate background in healthcare, computer telephony and electronics to her business classroom. She was the Director of Training and Development for North America at Philips Electronics. She has taught in the Luxembourg MBA program and currently teaches business ethics and organizational behavior. Research interests include career development, computer ethics and performance measurement systems including the balanced scorecard.

Anca Cristina Micu, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Marketing
With a dual background in business and communication, Dr. Micu teaches advertising and marketing courses to both undergraduates and MBAs. After getting a degree in finance and an MBA, she completed her PhD in Strategic Communication at the famous Missouri School of Journalism, ranked number one in the US. Dr. Micu has worked and/or consulted for several organizations: The BBDO Advertising Agency, The Estee Lauder Companies, The Advertising Research Foundation, and Millward Brown. Her research interests are in the areas of consumer psychology and behavior, persuasion, advertising effects, and consumer processing of messages received via new media.

Mary Trefry, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Management
Chair, Management Department
After serving in senior management positions in large public library systems, Dr. Trefry earned her doctorate in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.  Her consulting and training clients have included global organizations such as the United Nations, International House, and a Fortune 500 corporation.  Dr. Trefry served previously as Director of the USA MBA program and is now Chairperson of the Management Department as well as Academic Liaison for the Luxembourg MBA program.  Her courses in both the USA and Luxembourg enable participants to explore people issues in management.  Among her research interests are the challenges and opportunities inherent in culturally diverse organizations.   

Christopher C. York, JD 
Clinical Assistant Professor of Management
After four years’ active duty as a Captain with the U.S. Air Force JAG 1970,  Professor York served as Secretary of Citibank’s Board of Directors; Associate General Counsel of Citicorp; Vice President of Planning & Marketing of AmBase Corporation, and EVP—Management and COO of Project HOPE, the international medical education NGO.   He earned an AB degree at Colgate University, an MA degree at the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii and a JD degree at Emory University Law School.  His current research interests are ethical business practices and self regulating work teams.  He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and of the Bars of the U.S. Supreme Court; the 5th and 11th Federal District Courts, and the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia.

Michael J. Zhang, D.B.A.
Assistant Professor of Management
Program Coordinator
Dr. Zhang has lived and worked extensively in Hong Kong and People’s Republic of China. Prior to pursuing his graduate studies in the U.S., he managed the international service operations of a major airline in P.R. China. After earning his doctoral degree in Business Administration from Cleveland State University, Dr. Zhang taught in the graduate and undergraduate programs at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Since joining Sacred Heart University, he has taught and co-taught several graduate seminars in global management integration, contemporary issues in global management and organizational behavior for MBA students from U.S. and Luxembourg.
