The Center for Medieval Studies Film Series will present “Kingdom of Heaven,” on Monday, November 20, at 7:45 p.m. in the Schine Auditorium. The screening is free to the public and will be followed by a discussion.
The Ridley Scott film, starring Orlando Bloom, Edward Norton and Eva Green, tells the story of the 12th century Siege of Jerusalem.
The discussion will explore whether events of the past can explain some of problems of the present, what the Crusades were, and who was Saladdin.
“We will discuss the Crusades from Arab as well as Christian perspectives, the way Hollywood perverts history (or not), and the real Saladdin and Balien,” stated Dr. June-Ann Greeley, who will lead the discussion.
