MU 139 Guitar Ensemble (1 Credit) The Guitar Ensemble rehearses once a week and plays music arranged for multiple acoustic guitars and arranged in such a way as to allow the student to develop rhythm, timing and general technique skills. The music may include single notes, chords and a section for improvisation. Students are given musical parts to practice outside of class and a portion of the class is devoted to sight reading. The music, selected and arranged by the instructor, includes a variety of musical styles with the focus being on Jazz music. By performing in a group situation, the student learns the importance of blending with other instruments to achieve a group sound. The Guitar Ensemble performs throughout the year for both on- and off-campus concerts and events.
Students can register for one credit, or for those over the full-time limit, it is possible to register for 0 credit.
Prerequisite: permission.
