MAJOR IN HISTORY
The History major introduces the student to a broad array of knowledge about humankind since the onset of civilization. Courses are offered in U.S., Latin American, European, Asian, Ancient, and Middle Eastern History. Research projects and the Senior Thesis help students develop analytical and expressive skills.
In addition to a variety of electives and areas of study, the History program offers a number of foreign study and travel trips, with destinations that have included the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Ireland, and China. Other University sponsored study abroad trips of interest to History majors have gone to Great Britain, Italy, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Australia.
The History major is required to write a Senior Thesis. The Senior Thesis is a capstone experience that engages students in the actual research and writing of history under direction of a faculty mentor. The research, analysis, and writing skills employed are excellent preparation for career or graduate school.
