Creating a feature box on your homepage is an effective tool to market and promote your current news and events. Synthenet's web content management system offers a feature box option that is placed in the top right corner of the template web page [see our example feature box to your right.] You can choose your top headline, an image, and a bottom headline that links to your page of information. Undergraduate Admissions is successfully using it to market their online chat. The College of Education and Health Professions homepage is promoting its "10 Year Anniversary" with a feature box.

It takes a few simple steps to create a feature box. First, open the page to edit that you wish the feature box to appear. We recommend your departmental homepage for best visibility.

Click on the “elements tab”. Type in your “inner feature title” in the field box. This headline will appear at the top of the feature box.

Next click on the “inner feature image”. The image tree will automatically open. Click on the image you wish to appear in the feature box, and select “assign item”. The image will appear in the elements box right below “inner feature image”.

Now type in your “inner feature headline.” Then click on “select inner feature link” and the page tree will automatically open. Click on the page you wish to link to, and select “assign item.” The page title will appear next to the “link to page” field.

Lastly, select “save elements” in the top left of the elements box. You are finished! Be sure to preview your page to make sure your image and links are working properly.
