Have you ever wondered how you might display all those great photographs you took at an event? Sythenet's web content management system offers a user-friendly photo gallery feature. Many departments are already using this innovative tool to post photographs from student and faculty events, artwork, slideshows, and more. For examples, see the Gallery of Contemporary Art's new
Fire Exhibit,
Campus Ministries photo galleries, and Study Abroad's
Australia Program slideshow. If you already know how to upload and insert photographs to your web pages, it takes a few more simple steps to create a image gallery. (Please note: for information on uploading images to the system and inserting images onto a page, see Working with Images)
Once you have your page open to edit, click on the “elements” tab at the top. In the “photo gallery name” field, type in a name for your gallery. Next click on the “image gallery” tab. The image tree will automatically open in the left navigation. Click on an image, and select “assign item”. The image will appear in the image gallery.
Once you select all the images you wish to display in the gallery, you can move them or change the order of their appearance by clicking on the left or right arrows below each image. If you click on the edit icon, the image properties dialog box will appear and you may add a caption or change the title of your image. The trash can icon will delete your image from the gallery.
Once finished, be sure your page is approved, then save your page. A link to your photo gallery will appear at the top of you web page.
