Process for Showing and Buying the Rights to a Movie
At first thought, it seems like running a movie would be the easiest event to plan. After all, there is very little set-up/breakdown, and staffing requires one person to ensure that there are not any problems. Before showing a movie, please remember one important thing:
YOU MUST BUY THE RIGHTS TO THE MOVIE FROM SWANK MOTION PICTURES! FAILURE TO DO THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW BECAUSE IT IS A FORM OF FRAUD!
The process is pretty simple. In order to get the rights, all you have to do is:
- Call Swank Motion Pictures (1-800-876-3344)
- Ask them to fax you a list of the latest movies
- Pick the movies that you want
- Fill out an ERF and reserve the Schine
- Call Swank back and order the movies that you want for the date that
you had confirmed - Fill out a Tech Request Form and the Financial Forms… since we have a
Blanket PO with Swank, all that you have to do is fill out an Internal Transfer Form. These forms are available through the VP of Student Government for Finance. - Show the movie on the selected dates
- Return the movie to Swank. In order to do this, you must switch the label that was on the movie with the one that is in the original box. Please do this within 48 hours after showing the movie. Swank penalizes the University for late shipments.
