STAFFING EVENTS
  • Weekday events in the Outpost (Sunday-Thursday) must not start before 10pm due to academic classes, unless otherwise approved through Student Activities.  LOUD --Programming such as bands and Dance Parties would definitely follow this rule that might attract a crowd of more than 100.  Outdoor events must have permission from the Student Activities Office should they start before this hour.
  • Sound checks must remain at a reasonable level before 10:10 pm, so as not to disturb any academic class…Any event held on the Patio must maintain lower levels of noise.
  • No event can take place during finals or reading days aside from Midnight Breakfast.
  • All events must end by 1am.  Special arrangements may be made with the Student Union and Public Safety departments for events in the Outpost at times other than normal operating hours.  Normal operating hours are (M-TH; 9-12am and F; 9-1am).
  • All events must follow the capacity guidelines (for each space) as stated in the Clubs and Organizations Resource Guide (as posted by the Fire Marshall).  All layouts are available through the Student Union Office and will include capacity guidelines for each set-up.
  • Each group sponsoring an event is responsible for keeping track of this NUMBER (with the clicker).  All entrances/exits to the event venue must be manned by a club representative during the duration of the event.  Events not following this procedure will be shut down.
  • SHU students must come to the event with the most current SHU ID (Green Tree Background) to pass through the entrance.
  • All students entering the event will be hand stamped, so that should they leave to go to the bathroom, it is easier for them to gain re-admittance.
  • All non-students will be charged to attend the event.  Students paying an activity fee will be admitted for free of charge provided they show ID at the door (the point of entrance).  Students without a valid ID have 2 options: 1) Retrieve their valid SHU student ID to be admitted for free or 2) Pay the non-student price.  Non-students must pay full price for the event.  The price for people without an ID is $5 – unless it is a bigger program like a concert or semi-formal.
