Welcome to the College of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University. The College seeks to foster the development of women and men who demonstrate intellectual and professional integrity, who value compassionate service to others, and who take leading roles in the communities in which they serve.
As a professional college within a Catholic university rooted in the liberal arts tradition, the College is committed to providing an education built upon a deep respect for the dignity of the human person and a recognition of the responsibility of each individual to contribute to the building of a more just society. Our graduates develop the skills necessary for ethical responses to a new and ever-changing future filled with discoveries, technological advancements, and social change.
We invite you to learn more about the College and the exciting programs and initiatives that reflect our commitment to service, active and engaged learning, and professional excellence. New academic programs of which we are particularly proud include the Master of Science in Exercise Science and Nutrition which was launched fall 2009 and the Doctor of Nursing Practice and the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences which were launched fall 2010. We are also proud of our award winning Doctor of Physical Therapy program which was ranked the best in Connecticut and among the best nationally.
The College has state-of-the-art motion analysis, independent living, human performance, athletic training, and clinical skills laboratories to support the Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Occupational Therapy programs. Our Nursing department houses innovative simulation equipment in its acute care and ambulatory care laboratories. All of our health professions programs utilize the best health care facilities in the state as community partners in clinical education.
Online learning initiatives include the RN to BSN, RN to MSN and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree programs in the department of Nursing.
The College has expanded its commitment to the health and wellness needs of the City of Bridgeport through our Center for Community Health and Wellness. This is a collaborative initiative designed to address the unmet health and wellness needs of the parish while promoting the education, service and research goals of the University.
