New academic programs of which we are particularly proud include the Master of Science in Exercise Science and Nutrition which was launched fall 2009 and the Doctor of Nursing Practice and the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences which are scheduled to begin fall 2010. We are also proud of our award winning Doctor of Physical Therapy program which was ranked the best in Connecticut and among the best nationally and our field-based teacher and administrator preparation programs in the Isabelle Farrington School of Education. The school of education is the top independent educator of teachers and administrators in the state.
The College has state-of-the-art motion analysis, independent living, human performance, athletic training, and clinical skills laboratories to support the Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, and Occupational Therapy programs. Our Nursing department houses innovative simulation equipment in its acute care and ambulatory care laboratories. All of our health professions programs utilize the best health care facilities in the state as community partners in clinical education. The School of Education has a model science classroom, an educational technology laboratory, and the Book Ends literacy clinic which support our focus on preparing teachers for stimulating environments in elementary education.
Online learning initiatives include the Education Technology Certificate Program in the School of Education. The RN to BSN and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree programs in the department of Nursing and the Master of Science in Geriatric Health and Wellness.
The College has expanded its commitment to the health and wellness needs of the City of Bridgeport through our Center for Community Health and Wellness. This is a collaborative initiative designed to address the unmet health and wellness needs of the parish while promoting the education, service and research goals of the University.
