Organization Model Constitution
Article 1: Name
The name of the organization shall be hereafter referred to as .Article 2: Membership
Section 1. Describe general membership, i.e., who may attend as a non-voting member.
Basically this includes any member of the group being represented by the
organization.
Section 2. Describe specific membership, i.e., members of the organization with voting
privileges. Define how idividuals are selected/appointed to represent the group.
Section 3. Describe any ex-officio members, i.e., advisors, honorary members, etc.
Section 4. Disclaimer of any discrimination, i.e., not restrictive by race, gender, creed, etc.
Article 3: Officers
Section 1. Define officers and describe the positions and tasks.
Section 2. Define qualifications that officers must have, i.e., GPA, full-time status, etc.
Section 3. Define voting procedures of officers.
Section 4. Explain impeachment procedures.
Article 4: Elections
Section 1. Describe the process used in electing officers
Section 2. Describe methods of voting, i.e., secret ballot, campaigning procedures, etc.
Article 5: Meetings
Section 1. Define meeting regularity, i.e., weekly, bi-weekly, monthly.
Section 2. Define attendance at meetings and establish accountability system
(excused/unexcused)
Section 3. Define quorum (minimum amount of members needed to vote).
Section 4. Define voting rules: majority vote, 2/3 vote, etc.
Section 5. Define parliamentary procedure to be used (Robert's Rules of Order).
Article 6: Duties and Powers
Section 1. Describe any and all duties/powers that organization had in representing its
constituency.
Article 7: Committees
Section 1. Define committees and especially the need for ad-hoc committee.
Section 2. Describe all standing committees.
Article 8: Amendments
Section 1. Define who may propose an amendment.
Section 2. Define the form or method in which an amendment must be presented.
Section 3. Define ratification process for amendments, i.e., simple majority, 2/3 vote, etc.
Article 9: By-Laws
Section 1. Define use of by-laws typically used to clarify constitution or define detail in
excused/unexcused)organization.
