ADVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective advising of student organizations requires that the advisor obtain a basic understanding of the rights and responsibilities of campus organizations. They are also encouraged to become familiar with legal issues affecting their own relationships to the organizations and the university as it relates to liabilities.

As the advisor, you need to enforce university rules and regulations with students as they plan and implement activities. You need to especially address behaviors and/or activities that disrupt the academic environment, incite lawlessness, or conflict with Sacred Heart University's mission statement.

It is important for all advisors to become familiar with university policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to organizations.

Advisors have no responsibility or authority to sign any contracts or agreements. Any contract that you sign may result in personal financial liability on your part. All contracts must be signed by the Associate Dean of Students.

Below is the link to the Advisor Guidelines. Please be sure you have reviewed this document.
