A: Sacred Heart University uses a formula (different from the federal formula) for determining parent contribution. This formula is accepted by a large number of schools that have their own resources to distribute and are trying to do it in an equitable way. Our goal is to have two families that have the same financial strength providing support to their children at the same level. We apply a formula that has assessments: one made against total discretionary income and one against total assets, including home equity.
