The Nursing faculty is actively engaged in a variety of practice and/or consultation activities within their areas of specialization. Examples of current activities include providing primary care to underserved populations, serving as a childbirth educator, advanced practice and staff nurse roles in acute care hospitals, and working with healthcare institutions and nurse leaders to improve the use of research in practice, develop effective management teams, and enhance the work environment and patient care outcomes.
Faculty Board and Leadership Activities
The faculty is also actively committed to participation in professional organizations and boards to support the development of professional nursing roles and promote access to high quality healthcare across the State and region. Current faculty activities in this area include board or officer service to the Connecticut League for Nursing, The Connecticut Nurses Association, the Connecticut Healthcare and Education Facilities Authority, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), the Bridgeport Public Health Department, Connected Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society and, of course, Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.
