PHI OMEGA TAU SORORITY
Locally Founded: 1994
Colors: Cranberry, Hunter Green, & Grey
Flower: Sunflower
Symbol: Crescent Moon
In the spring of 1994, a group of friends came to a consensus about the idea of starting their own sorority with their own identity. They wanted to form an organization based on their own set of beliefs. The sisters of Phi Omega Tau believe that they have something very different to offer.
Phi Omega Tau's main objective is AIDS Awareness. Realizing that AIDS is one of the most dangerous killers of our time, especially among people of our age, the sisters feel very strongly about this issue. The women of Phi Omega Tau are working hard to ensure that they do all in their power to educate and inform people about this deadly epidemic, while helping those who have been infected with the virus.
Phi Omega Tau proudly received the Best Greek Organization of the Year Award in May of 2001. This group of women has worked extremely hard to successfully raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic among the SHU community. Through significant programming, Phi Omega Tau was able to show how AIDS not only affects an individual, but an entire community as well.
The sisters of Phi Omega Tau truly exemplify their motto, "Where we go one, we go all." You'll never see a sister who isn't surrounded by other sisters. In the spring of 2005, Phi Omega Tau was awarded "Most Dedicated to Cause" as reward for an extremely successful AIDS awareness week and an AIDS walk on campus that helped to raise money for the Elizabeth Glasser Foundation.
