UPWARD BOUND
Upward Bound is a federally-funded college preparatory program for high school students.  This program develops academic and life skills necessary for success in college through advisement, counseling and academic support.  It operates September through mid-August, ideally with students beginning the summer before their freshman year until their high school graduation.

Students attend individually tailored workshops with academic instruction and tutoring.  During the school year students attend Saturday workshops twice a month.  During the summer students attend a six week non-residential academic component; Monday through Friday they attend classes from 8:30 am until 3:15 pm.

The Federal guidelines to be admitted into this program are simple.  You must:

  • Be a high school student in 9th, 10th or 11th grade at one of our 5 target schools or a recent 8th grade graduate who will be attending one of our 5 target high schools.
  • Have an academic need.
  • Be a first generation college student and/or
  • Come from a low income family (as determined by federal guidelines).

If you are interested in this program you can obtain an application from your school counselor, attend an information session at your school or fill out a request for an Application form.

If you have any questions, please fee free to contact us at 371-7866.  Please see our Staff Page for more contact information.
