David A. Cameron, PT, PHD, OCS, ATC, Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Cameron completed his professional education at the University of Connecticut, receiving a BS in Physical Therapy in 1983. He received his M.A. in Education from the University of Connecticut, with a concentration in Sports Biomechanics. Dr. Cameron recently completed the requirements for a doctorate in Pathokinesiology at New York University. His dissertation topic was landing strategies of vertical jumpers with and without chronic ankle sprain.
Dr. Cameron joined the faculty of Sacred Heart University in the fall of 1996 as a clinical assistant professor in the Physical Therapy program. His primary teaching responsibilities include the Musculoskeletal Examination & Treatment track as well as assisting in Basic Functional skills. He has presented in both content areas at regional and national conferences. Dr. Cameron spent fourteen years practicing in outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy including ten years as owner and director of the Center for Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy in Manchester, CT. He has participated in the clinical faculty practice located on Sacred Heart's campus in the William Pitt Health & Recreation Center, and remains an active orthopaedic practitioner. His areas of clinical interest include manual therapy, examination and treatment of pelvic and spine dysfunction, clinical decision making, and lower extremity rehabilitation. He continues to actively pursue continuing education in these areas. Dr. Cameron is recognized as an orthopaedic certified specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Dr. Cameron has served the CT Chapter of the APTA through committee leadership and association activities.
