Mary-Ellen Johnson, OTD, MAHSM, OTR/L, Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Dominican College's Occupational Therapy Program, has earned Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University and a Masters in Health Systems Management from Sacred Heart University. She joined the Department of Occupational Therapy and Graduate Program in Geriatric Health and Wellness in the summer of 2002. Dr. Johnson brings to both programs extensive experience from the perspectives of both health care provider and administrator.
In the problem-based program in Occupational Therapy, Dr. Johnson is coordinator for the modules that focus on Occupational Therapy Assessment and Intervention as applied adults and to older adults and the elderly, along with teaching courses designed assist students to develop the therapeutic use of self, develop knowledge of health care policies and law related to the practice of occupational therapy, and practice occupational therapy in community-based settings. In the graduate program in Geriatric Health and Wellness, she focuses on health care ethics. Ms. Johnson is a co-instructor in the Spirituality in Healthcare course, and coordinator of the Center for Professional Development in the Department of Occupational Therapy.
Ms. Johnson is the past president and current Board Member of the Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
