TALKS, WORKSHOPS, AND TRAINING SESSIONS

2012 Information and Training Sessions

We will be holding a number of informational and/or training sessions up and down the coast of Connecticut.  These infomational/training sessions will give a brief history of Project Limulus and an overview of our research as well as training volunteers as to how to conduct spawning surveys and tag horseshoe crabs according to USFWS spawning survey and tagging protocols.  We will also be signing up anyone interested in volunteering to help with the project.

The Nature Conservancy will be hosting an information session for tagging and survey volunteers and anyone interested in learning more about horseshoe crabs on Thursday, May 17th at the Fairfield Parks and Recs Department, 75 Mill Plain Road beginning at 6:30 pm. Those interested in attending or being trained and obtaining supplies at a later date should contact Sally Harold, at The Nature Conservancy (203) 226-4991 x113  or email sharold@tnc.org

Horseshoe crab, (Project Limulus) Beach walk, talk and tag training: meet in front of the Nature Center at Sherwood Island State Park, Prof. Jennifer Mattei, Associate Professor of Biology at Sacred Heart University,  Project Limulus co-director.   Meeting at 3:30PM in the parking lot, rain or shine!  All ages welcome to attend, children must be accompanied by at least one adult.  Wear boots, you will get wet!
