Dear Parents and Students,
On behalf of the Class of 2009, I would like to introduce you to an exciting opportunity at Sacred Heart University. After last years overwhelming success, the Class of 2009 would like to offer you and your family a chance to purchase raffle tickets to win free tuition for the upcoming academic year. In addition, you will be eligible for the 2 consolation prizes listed below. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Class of 2009.
Tickets are $50 each and may be purchased by completing the enclosed form and mailing it back to the university address on the enclosed form. All mailings much be postmarked by August 29, 2008. There is no limit on the amount of tickets that each family can purchase and the ticket holder need not be present to win.
The winner will be pulled September 2, 2008, at 5:00 PM and will be notified via phone. The results will also be posted on the Sacred Heart University Student Activities website. If you are declared a winner and already paid a deposit to the University, it will be credited to your account via financial aid.

Rules and Regulations:
In order to be eligible for the tuition raffle, students must meet the criteria below:

Must be a Full-Time Undergraduate student for the 2008-2009 academic year. The prize will be disbursed each semester and is not redeemable for cash if the student withdraws or is dismissed from the university. This also applies to students who are only returning for one semester. No refunds will be given for any of these cases.

Must purchase one or more raffle tickets between June 5 and September 1, 2008. All forms that are mailed must be postmarked by August 29, 2008.

Must be 18 years of age to purchase the ticket.
The proceeds from the raffle are posted directly to your student account as credit towards your tuition charges. Please note that the amount received from the tuition raffle may affect other federal, state or university need based financial assistance and a recalculation of your financial aid award may occur. In addition, federal tax laws require the reporting of these funds to you on a 1098 T at the end of the calendar year. You should discuss the effect of this to your personal tax obligation with an IRS or a tax professional. The purchase of tickets are not a tax deductible donation. |
